SCENE 1
CHARACTERS: JAKE & VICKY
SETTING: JAKE & VICKY'S NEW HOUSE IN OAKDALE {NURSERY}
IT'S DECEMBER 22ND
(Vicky is in the hallway and walking up to the nursery door and tries to open it
but Jake is in there working on it he's got the door locked)
VICKY: (KNOCKS ON THE DOOR) Jake! are you done yet? can I come in?
JAKE: (Opens the door) All done, come in (Vicky walks in and looks around
on one side of the room is two white cribs with pink sheets and blankets, a
teddy bear in each, between them is a rocking chair, on the other side of the
room is a tall dresser full of little girls clothes and next to that is a
changing table full of blankets, sheets, diapers and other baby stuff)
So whadda you think?
VICKY: (Turning around to look at Jake) I love it
(She walks over to the rocking chair and sits in it and rubs her belly) You two
will love it, too.
JAKE: (Walks over to Vicky and kneels down in front of her) of course
they will love it they are McKinnon's (They both laugh)

SCENE 2
CHARACTERS: JAKE & VICKY
SETTING JAKE & VICKY'S NEW HOUSE {FRONT ROOM}
THE NEXT DAY, DECEMBER 23RD
(Vicky is sitting on the couch next to the Christmas tree it's full of gifts for
Steven & Kirkland, Christmas music is playing, Vicky is reading a book of
baby names, Jake walks in from work)
JAKE: HI Honey! I'm home!
VICKY: (Looks up from the book) HI!
JAKE: (Walks over to the couch and sits next to Vicky leans over to look
at the cover of the book) Baby names?
VICKY: (Looks over at Jake) Yeah baby names for the twins
JAKE: You had already picked names for the twins. Remember, Mary and
Elizabeth
VICKY: First names, what about middle names?
JAKE: OH! middle names, you don't need a book for that (Smiles at Vicky)
I know two good names.
VICKY: OK! (She closes the book and puts it down and looks at Jake)
Whadda ya got?
JAKE: Well! I was thinking of Mary Donna and Elizabeth Bridget
VICKY: (Smiles) Mary Donna McKinnon and Elizabeth Bridget McKinnon (Pause
for a min)
I---eeeeeeeee (She stops talking)
JAKE: What, Vic? What's wrong? Is it the names?
VICKY: No, No, No, it's not the names
JAKE: Then what?
VICKY: (Looks at Jake) My water just broke!!!
JAKE: Your water broke? That means you're going to have the twins You're
not due for another 6-7 weeks!
VICKY: Yeah, I know, but the Doctor said the twins might come early.
JAKE: Well, let's go have our little girls (He gets up and helps Vicky up
and they leave for the hospital)

SCENE 3
CHARACTERS: JAKE, VICKY AND THE NURSE
(Vicky is lying in the hospital bed hooked up to the baby heart monitor, Jake is
sitting on the side of the bed and the Nurse just got done checking Vicky)
NURSE: (To Vicky) You're at 5 centimeters, 95 percent effaced, the
heartbeats sound good. I say you'll be holding your Babies in a few hours.
I'm going to call the Doctor (Leaves the room)
JAKE: (Looks at Vicky) Well, it sounds like Mary and Elizabeth will be
here soon
VICKY: (Feels a contraction coming on) Jake! Jake!
JAKE: (Grabs Vicky's hand) I'm right here honey! I'm right here for you,
you can do this.
VICKY: (Sarcastically) Easy for you to say, you did this to me.
JAKE: I know, honey, You helped me do this, remember? (Laughs) but think
in a few hours you will be holding our wonderful Daughters
VICKY: (The contraction is over, She sits up) I know but it hurts
JAKE: come here, honey (they hug and he is rubbing her back) I know it
hurts, baby, I'm here for you all the way
VICKY: OK!

SCENE 4
CHARACTERS JAKE, VICKY, NURSE AND THE DOCTOR
SETTING HOSPITAL ROOM
(It's 2 hours later, Vicky is lying in the bed and Jake is sitting next to the
bed holding Vicky's hand, the nurse just got done checking her)
NURSE: (To Vicky) Looking good, you're at 8 centimeters, 100 percent
effaced. It won't be much longer.
VICKY: God, I hope not (A contraction hits) Owwwww,
Jake it hurts! Owwwwwwwwwww!!!
JAKE: (Holding Vicky's hand) Vic, I'm here, honey.
(At that point the Nurse noticed the babies heartbeats are dropping and she runs
out of the room)
VICKY: (Looks at Jake) What's wrong?
JAKE: Nothing, honey! Nothing's wrong (The Doctor and the Nurse comes in
the room)
DOCTOR: (Looks at the monitor and at that point
the heartbeats are real low) Oh my God!
JAKE: (To the Doctor) What? what's wrong?
DOCTOR: The babies heartbeats are dropping real fast Mr. McKinnon
JAKE: What does that mean?
DOCTOR: That means we have to deliver the babies right away by C-Section
(To the Nurse). Call O. R. and tell them we're on our way.
VICKY: O. R.? Jake! The babies?
JAKE: (Holding Vicky's hand) It's ok, honey, they have to deliver the
babies. They'll be ok.
VICKY: (Tears in her eyes) Jake! I'm scared.
JAKE: I know, honey, you and our little girls will be ok
NURSE: We have to go now (She starts to push the bed out of the room)
JAKE: (To the Doctor) Can I go with her?
DOCTOR: I'm sorry, Mr. McKinnon, but you'll have to wait in the fathers'
waiting room.
JAKE: (Bends over and kisses Vicky on the lips)
I love you honey, I'll be right here for you.
VICKY: I love you, too. I'll be back with our little
Daughters.
DOCTOR: Well, we have to go now (they push Vicky out of the room and go
to O. R. ,Jake is left standing behind)
JAKE: (Looks up and holding a bell in his hand)
Bridget, please take care of Vicky and my little girls. I can't loose
them.
