Just the Six of Us, Part 4

Scene 9

Scene opens with the wailing of a new baby.

Dr. Doyle: Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. McKinnon! You have a baby girl! (shows the baby to Jake and Vicky)

Jake: Yes! Vicky! We have a girl! We have a girl! We have a girl!

Vicky (crying): I know! Oh Jake! I love you!

Jake: I love you, too! (They kiss.)

Dr. Doyle: Ah hem! (Jake and Vicky stop kissing.) We still have another baby to deliver!

Jake (laughs): Oh yeah. Okay, c'mon Vicky. Push! Our other little girl needs to be born!

Vicky pushes.

Dr. Doyle: C'mon Vicky! I see the head. Just a few more pushes and your other girl will be here. (Vicky pushes.) Okay, the head's out. (Vicky pushes again) Here come the shoulders. (Vicky pushes once more.)

Baby: WAAAAAAH!

Dr. Doyle: Another girl! (shows the baby to Jake and Vicky.)

Jake (puts his head against Vicky's): We have our girls!

Vicky: I know! Jake, are you as happy as I am?

Jake: Happier, if that's possible! The woman I love more than life itself just gave me the best gifts possible! I am beyond happy.

End of Scene

Scene 10

(Nurse brings the babies to Jake and Vicky. She places one in Vicky's arms and one in Jake's arms.)

Jake: Oh my god! Aren't you just precious! You are so beautiful...just like your mother! (looks over to the baby in Vicky's arms.) And so are you! (holds the baby's little hand.)

Vicky: We have to come up with names for these little treasures.

Jake: I know. I've been thinking Bridget Ryan for one of them.

Vicky: Me too.

Jake: But which one is going to be Bridget?

Vicky: Good question. Well, let's think of another name and then we'll decide which name fits which baby.

Jake: Okay. Do you have any other names picked out?

Vicky: Sure do. I like the name Nicole. Nicole Michaela McKinnon. What do you think?

Jake: It's perfect. Now, which one is going to be which?

Jake and Vicky hold the babies up to look at them as the scene fades out.

Scene 11

Vicky: Have any ideas on how to name them?

Jake: As a matter of fact, I do. Here, take her. (Jake gives his three girls a kiss and then runs out of the room.)

Vicky (looking at her girls): I wonder what your daddy is up to. Speaking of your daddy, you girls don't know just how lucky you are to have him as your father. He's going to spoil you rotten and he's going to love you to death. That man is the best in the whole world. It's hard to come by someone like him. When you two get a little older, I'll explain my life with your father. It's some story and I think that you'll both enjoy it. But, let me just tell you, I love him. (Jake quietly walks in.) I love him like I've never loved another man before. He's everything to me, well, besides you two and your brothers. It took me awhile to realize that, but when I did, I held on tight. You two are a symbol of our undying love.

Jake: Yes, they are.

Vicky: How long have you been there? (blushing)

Jake: Long enough to hear the most beautiful woman say the most beautiful things.

Vicky: Well, it's all true.

Jake and Vicky kiss.

Vicky: So, where did you go in a hurry?

Jake: To the giftshop.

Vicky: Why?

Jake: To buy these. (Pulls windchimes out of a bag.)

Vicky: What are those for?

Jake: Well, whichever one of them (point to the babies) smiles when they make noise will be Bridget, and the other one will be Nicole.

Vicky (laughs): Okay, let's see if it works.

Jake runs his fingers along the windchimes. The baby in Vicky's left arm begins to coo, while the other one drifts off to sleep.

Vicky: Well, I guess that settles it. The sleepyhead here will be Nicole Michaela and this one will be Bridget Ryan.

Jake pulls up a chair and takes Nicole from Vicky. All of a sudden, Steven and Kirkland come rushing in the door.

Jake: Come here boys! Meet your sisters. (The boys walk over.)

Vicky (pointing to Nicole): That's Nicole Michaela and this one is Bridget Ryan.

Steven: Can I hold one?

Kirkland: Yeah, me too.

Jake: Okay, guys, but sit first. (Jake gets up and lets Kirkland sit in his chair. He pulls another chair over for Steven.)

Jake gives Kirkland Nicole and then gives Steven Bridget.

Steven: They're so little!

Kirkland: Finally! Someone smaller than me!

Jake and Vicky laugh. The scene fades out as the six of them laugh.

Scene 12

Jake and Vicky are standing outside the nursery looking at their two little girls.

Jake: How did I get so lucky? (put his arm around Vicky. Vicky snuggles up close to him.)

Vicky: How did I get so lucky?

Jake: It's been a long road filled with heartbreak and happiness, but we finally have gotten to our happily ever after. (Jake leads Vicky over to a chair.)

Vicky: It certainly has been a long road. Do you remember when we first came to Bay City?

Jake: Do I ever. Those weren't the happiest times for us, but things got better. Remember?

The scene fades into a musical montage. The song "I Do (Cherish You)" by 98 Degrees starts to play in the background. The first scene is Jake and Vicky riding into town on Jake's motorcycle. We then skip a few years to the happier times in Jake and Vicky's life to where Vicky has moved into Jake's apartment. We see their almost kiss. It fades to Jake and Vicky's kiss in her bathroom where they are soaking wet. We then see them at their first date in Sassy's and then when Jake gives Vicky a kiss on the cheek goodnight. We see the Halloween party where Vicky gave Jake a kiss after the apple bobbing contest. We then see Jake's proposal to Vicky in Lassiter. Then we see Jake throw the ring in the water after he saw Shane and Vicky kissing. Next is Jake and Vicky's kiss on Center Street when Jake was helping Nick in his rape case. Then we see Jake and Vicky sitting outside during the fireworks after Josie and Gary's wedding. Then there is the kiss on Vicky's patio. Next is the time that Jake and Vicky spent in New York and the kisses they shared there. Then is Vicky's proposal to Jake when Jake cried and told her to go talk to Shane first. Then we see the night when Jake accepted Vicky proposal and their exchange of engagement rings. Next is the first night they made love. Then we see various shots of their wedding, their first Christmas, New Year's and then their break-up. We then see the time that Jake and Vicky were dancing and kissed in her living room during their break-up. Then we see the scene where Jake tells Vicky to give him her best shot and she kisses him. Next is Vicky locking everyone on the boat trying to get the truth out of them. Next is Jake and Vicky's reconciliation. We see various shots from when they were trying to conceive a baby. Next is when they see the sonogram when they found out they had twins. The last scene is a close-up on the tree where "Jake + Vicky 4ever" is carved. The montage fades out to Jake and Vicky.

Jake: Our life has been filled with ups and downs and bumps in the road, but somehow we always found our way back to each other.

Vicky: I love you Jake!

Jake: I love you too!
