Rely on Jake, Part 4

Jake is standing in the hospital on the phone, waiting for someone to pick up.

Paulina: Hello?

Jake: Hey cupcake, I need your help.

Paulina: What now, McKinnon?

Jake: Hey, can't a guy ask for a favor every once in a while?

Paulina: ask away Jake, before I change my mind.

Jake: Okay, well, first I should tell you that we lost our baby...

Paulina: Oh that's terrible Jake.

Jake: That's not the worst part, Vicky wants me to move out, I have no idea why.

Paulina: She's probably just scared, Jake, scared that you'll leave her, so she wanted to make the first move.

Jake: By throwing me out?

Paulina: Look Jake, I'm going to help ya, cuz you and Vic are my best friends and you belong together.

Jake: Thanks pumpkin', I knew you would help me!!

Paulina: Yeah, well, what can I say,?  I'm to nice for my own good.

Jake: And don't you ever change.

Paulina: Okay, well why don't I watch the boys tonight, so you and Vicky can be home alone.

Jake: I see where your going, once we are all alone she won't be able to resist the masterpiece that is Jake.

Paulina: My, my, Jake aren't we arrogant?

Jake: Oh, you know you love me, just to bad, your Elvis husband isn't more like me.

Paulina: God two Jake McKinnons?  That would be like....

Jake: Heaven?

Paulina: Yeah, something like that, anyway what I was going to say was, you and Vicky could watch a really scary movie. You two will be really close all night long, and then when you both are ready, you'll move in for the kill, easy as pie!

Jake: Unless Vic made it, then it'd be, easy as burnt pie.

Jake and Paulina laugh.

Jake: I should go, I'll call the boys and send them over to your place pronto, got it?

Paulina: Yes Jake, I've got it!

Jake: Thank you so much, how can I ever repay you?

Paulina: Just make this night work, okay?

Jake: Anything you say, I aim to please! Bye bye.

Jake hangs up the phone. He walks out of the hospital and goes to get into his car, when he realizes that vicky has it.   He takes his cell phone and dials the number for the cottage. It rings three times before someone picks up.

Steven: Hello?

Jake: Hey buddy, is your mom home?

Steven: Yeah she's here, whats wrong with her? As soon as she got home she ran upstairs and hasn't been down since.

Jake: Look Steven, something happened that your mom and I will explain to you later, but right now I need you to go over to aunt Paulina's for a sleepover okay?

Steven: Yeah sure, Kirk and I will ride our bikes over.  I think we left our things there the last time we went over anyway.

Jake: Sounds cool. Do you think you could put your mom on the phone?  It's really important.

Steven: Yeah sure, here she is.

Vicky: Hello?

Jake: Hey Vic, it's Jake, and I know your mad at me right now, but uh . . . you left me at the hospital car less and, well do you think you could pick me up?

VIcky: Jake, I'm not mad at you...I guess I could pick you up, If I have to..see you in ten minutes.

Jake: Okay bye, I love you.

Jake hangs up his cell. He sits on the curb waiting for Vicky to arrive. When she does she honks the horn at Jake, who jumps up.

Jake: Thanks a lot.

VIcky: Yeah sure, anytime. get in the car.

the car ride home is silent. When they get home the boys are gone. On the dining room table there is a note that says: Dear mom, we went over to aunt Paulina's for the night, cuz you looked really sad, and we thought you needed time alone with Jake. We love you A LOT! See you tomorrow afternoon!! Love Kirk, and Steven.

Vicky: That kid knows too much for his own good!

Jake: Yeah well, since we have the house all to ourselves why don't we...

VIcky: Jake, I told, you...

Jake: watch a movie.

Vicky: Oh, I thought you were going to say something else.

Jake: Like what?

Vicky: Nothing, really.

Jake: Oh, like Huckle Buck?

Vicky: Why don't I order some pizza and you can pick the movie okay?

Jake: Sounds good to me.

The pizza has arrived, and the are sitting on the couch watching "The Shining."

T.v.: Come play with us Danny.

Vicky: AAAAAA... Jake, why did you pick this movie?

Jake: Don't know.

Vicky screams once again, and hides her head in Jake's cheast. She looks up right into Jake's eyes, and she kisses him passionately.
