A Miracle, Part 3

TWO WEEKS LATER,

Jake is sitting in his office working on a story,
the phone rings.

JAKE: (Answers the phone) "McKinnon" "Hey Margo whats up?" "No, I haven't heard anything yet" (Lucinda walks in) "Yeah, I talked to everyone here and no one saw a thing" " Okay, well, I'll talk to ya later" "Okay Bye" (He hangs up and looks at Lucinda) Well, if it isn't the big boss lady coming to give me a hard time?

LUCINDA: Was that Margo on the phone?

JAKE: Yeah!

LUCINDA: Did she find out anything?

JAKE: No, another dead end

LUCINDA: I see (She pauses)

JAKE (He leans back in his chair and crosses his arms and looks at Lucinda) Okay, now what are you up to? or what did you do?

LUCINDA: I called the FBI back on this

JAKE: And you think they'll find something this time?

LUCINDA: I don't know, but those babies came from somewhere

JAKE: And so everyone just thinks they are mine (The phone rings) "McKinnon" "Okay I'll be right down" (He hangs up) Well, saved by the bell, The printer is down (He leaves the room)

LUCINDA: The printer is down? (John walks in) Hi John

JOHN: Hi Lucinda, Where is Jake?

LUCINDA: He's down stairs in the printer room

JOHN: (Holding a paper) I just came to tell him the DNA test are in

LUCINDA: (Reaches for the paper) Let me see

JOHN: (Pulls it back) I can't, it's for Jake

JAKE: (Walks back in) What's for Jake?

JOHN: (Turns around to look at Jake) Hey Jake

JAKE: Hey John, whats up?

JOHN: (Hands Jake the paper) This is the DNA test

LUCINDA: Yeah John wouldn't let me see it

JAKE: Oh, is that right? (He reads it)

LUCINDA: Well, what does it say?

JAKE: (To John) This can't be right

JOHN: It's right. Jake. Those are your babies

JAKE: They can't be

LUCINDA: John, are you sure?

JOHN: Yes, Lucinda, I ran the test 3 times

JAKE: Well, there has to be a mistake, Because if they are mine where is my wife?

JOHN: No mistake, Jake. Well, I have a meeting to get to I just wanted to drop that off

JAKE: Okay, thanks.  See ya later, John

JOHN: See you, Jake.  I'll talk to you later, Lucinda

LUCINDA: Sure, bye John (John leaves) So, Jake, what are you going to do?

JAKE: I guess if those are my babies I have to find their mother and my Wife

LUCINDA: Well, won't you at least stop over and see them?

JAKE: Some other time.  I'm busy I have a lot to do tonight

LUCINDA: To busy to see your Daughters?

JAKE: Thats if this test is right and they are my Daughters

LUCINDA: Oh, I see.  You think the test is wrong? Jake, at least get to know them

JAKE: I'll see but right now I got a story to check out and give this some time to sink in

LUCINDA: Okay, well, if you change your mind you know where I live

JAKE: Yeah I do (He leaves)
