Scene 35 Donna is back at the
cottage reading through the papers Jaime's lawyer brought by
Donna: Hmmm...now let's see here (reading them all very thoroughly) Well these all seem to
be in order...maybe I should give Jaime a call just to see what he really wants...(picking
of the phone)
Jaime: Hello
Donna: Hello Jaime...it's your favorite ex-mother-in-law
Jaime: (smirking) Well hello Donna...and what do I owe this pleasure?
Donna: Well I just happened to be the one that recieved this document that you sent for
Jake
Jaime: Right...and I am sure that you just "happened" to open it and read it
Donna: Well the curiosity was killing me
Jaime: And how long did that take Donna...about 5 seconds?
Donna: Ohh shut up Jaime...just tell me...are you sure about this
Jaime: Yes Donna I am...I wouldn't have flown my lawyer to Bay City if I wasn't sure
Donna: Don't get me wrong I think what you are doing is very honorable...but are you sure
you won't regret it?
Jaime: Look Donna...I did what I had to do...no, it wasn't easy at all...but I did the
right thing...I know that much
Donna: Okay well I guess I should say thank you...I mean this is big thing you just
did...I don't know how this family could ever really properly thank you
Jaime: Seeing my son really smile for the first time in months was the only convincing I
needed...you don't have to thank me for loving my son
Donna: I do though Jaime...Steven was lucky to get you as a dad...when I think of Grant
and what all he put Kirkland and Victoria through...well they really were lucky to have
you to be Steven's dad
Jaime: It was a job I was proud to have
Donna: I know Jaime...well I better go...I will tell Steven you said hello
Jaime: Thanks Donna but that's really not necessary...keep in touch...goodbye
Donna: Good bye Jaime (hangs up phone) God bless you
Jaime: (hangs up phone) I do love you Steven...I hope deep down you will keep that with
you...always
Scene 36 Jake, the boys, Vicky, and Bridget are all at the Botanical Gardens
Steven: (charging in) What Jake...what can't be?
Jake: (still shocked) Huh? What? No...nothing...nevermind...it's just my imagination
Steven: MOM!!!
Kirk: MOM!! Where? (running in)
Jake: (talking fast and moving his hands) Wai, wai, wait...you mean....you...you see that
Steven: What do you mean "that"? I see my mom
Kirk: I do to...I see her too
Vicky: (running and hiding behind Bridget) Who is that Bridget? And why are they all
staring and pointing at me?
Bridget: Ohhh deary me...this is going to be harder than expected...(patting her Vic's
hair like a little girl) There there...calm down...it's alright...they won't hurt you
Jake: Where'd she go...running around...I can't find her...come on guys look around
Kirk: I see her Jake...she's over there (pointing) with Bridget
Jake: With Brid...okay now I'm really losing it (runs up to the front seats)...Ohhh my
God...it really is you
Vicky: Leave me alone...please...I don't have any money...please leave me alone (crying
she grabs on to Bridget's skirt)
Jake: (not being able to see Bridget) I would never hurt you...please...just let me look
at you (Steven and Kirk run up and hide behind Jake)
Vicky: Who ever you are...please leave me alone...think of my babies (points to her
stomach) I'm almost due and I don't want them to be hurt
Jake: Babies...you mean...Ohhh my...you have babies
Vicky: Yes...well I think there are two...it sure feels like two...I haven't been to see a
doctor
Steven: Jake...is that Mom? What's wrong with her?
Jake: Nothing is wrong with her boys...just hang on...look I promise I'm not going to hurt
you miss...I'm sorry I don't know your name
Vicky: Well that's funny...neither do I
Jake: (smiling) Why don't you let me get you to a doctor...I promise it's safe to come
with me...look I have 2 kids myself
Vicky: I see that (looking at Steven and Kirk she feels something) Hi kids
Jake: (with the boys still hiding behind them) You'll have to forgive them...they are a
little shy (reaches out his hand) please come with me
Vicky: (looking at Bridget) I don't know
Bridget: Go on deary...I will follow you there
Vicky: Ohh okay (taking Jake's hand her heart skips a beat) that was weird
Jake: What was weird?
Vicky: Nothing...come on let's go
Jake: Okay...hang on just one sec while I have a talk with my boys (takes Steven and Kirk
over to the side) Ummm...okay...I have no idea how to explain this one...let's just all
try to stay calm...we can scream later...right now it is very important that we are calm
Steven: It seems that you are the only one having trouble Jake
Jake: Okay...okay...I can handle this...okay now here's the story...this
woman...well...(getting excited)...this woman seems to be your mom...don't ask
questions...believe me I have no answers...now she doesn't seem to remember any of
us...all I can see is that she is very pregnant...(smiles) and she looks big enough to be
carrying twins...and she is the spitting image of your mother...now if I was alone I would
say that I was dreaming...but you both see that woman over there right
Steven and Kirk: Right
Jake: Okay just checking...okay well then I guess this is for real...now here's the
plan...we are going to take your mom to a doctor as quietly as possible...her mind is very
fragile right now and I don't want to scare her...so don't say anything to her about her
being your mom or my wife...we will just take this one step at a time
Steven: Is this for real Jake...is this really mom?
Jake: God I hope so
Kirk: It is Jake...she is sitting with Bridget...Bridget promised that we would be happy
again
Jake: Uhh huh...well let's take one thing at a time...come on (walks over to
Vicky)...(acting like a teenager on his first date) Umm...we are ready to go now
Vicky: Okay (looks back at Bridget with questioning eyes) I guess we will go then (the 4
of them walk off)
Bridget: Yes...go Victoria...go fall in love all over again
