Love Survives, Part 2

Jake opened up the message. It had been sent to many different publications, and the first line was "I have written a story that I would like you to consider publishing. As Jake read the story, he knew that it was meant for him. The first paragraph told him everything he needed to know. This is how it began. "Alice Blue was sitting outside one day. All she could see no matter what direction she looked was water. She was feeling very sad today. She missed Rags so much and wished he was there with her, but she was not alone she had two young friends with her, Mary and Elizabeth. She did wish that she had her favorite ring with her, but it had been taken away. Alice knew that she would see Rags again because she knew that he would never give up on her."

Jake re read that first paragraph and he began to cry. The message had to be from Vicky. She was alive: she was out there, and the twins were alive too. Aside from Steven and Kirkland, nobody else knew about Alice Blue and Rags, and Jake and Vicky had promised each other that they would not tell anyone the names they had chosen for their girls. His heart raced. . His family was alive and that was all that mattered! But where was she?  She was obviously in trouble or she would not have contacted him by using the story. Wherever she was and whoever she was with, she must not want them to know that she had been in touch with Jake.  Jake was still in shock. He had to find Vicky!  She was waiting for him, and he wasn't about to let her down this time, but he didn’t know where to begin his search.  He knew that he couldn’t do it alone, and he couldn’t ask Isaac for help because he was either working for whoever had Vicky or these people were deliberately feeding him false information to pass on to Jake. He couldn’t ask Lucinda for help either because her sources weren’t able to help before, and he did not want anyone tipped of that he believed Vicky was still alive.  There was only one person who could help him, so Jake left Lucinda a message and told her he was going out of town to work on a story and would be out of reach until he was done, then he set off to see the one person who would be able to help him find Vicky.
