True Love Never Dies, Part 5
Park in Bay City
Jakes feet take him to a small park with a swing set. He sits on one of the swings
and
remembers what happened on those swings almost two years ago.
*****
J: What do you think? You want to make a baby with me?
A smile spreads across Vickys face.
V: Yes.
J: Did you just say...
V: (nods) Yes. Yes.
They hug.
J: I love you.
V: More than anything.
J: I love you.
V: I love you.
Jake pulls away and looks at her.
J: All right. What do we do? Boy or girl?
V: Either one.
J: Just as long as it looks like you.
V: Thats right. And shes gotta be brave. Shes gotta be brave right
from the start.
Vicky notices Jakes laughter at she and she laughs and puts her head on
his shoulder.
V: Oh.
She looks up at him.
V: Were going to do this, right?
J: You bet.
V: Were going to do this. And... I cant believe it. Everythings
going to be new. Were starting over just like you said.
J: From now on.
V: Were going to be great.
They hug.
*****
J: Oh, God, Vic. We were going to be great. And look what I did. I killed our dream.
I killed you.
Jake looks around.
J: What am I doing here?
Jake gets up and walks away.
Carlinos
Believing crowds of people might make him feel better, Jake went to Carlinos. The
second he walked in, his eyes targeted a couple, obviously very much in love, holding
hands at a table. A table that Jake and Vicky once sat at, while making plans for their
future.
*****
V: So where did you go after you dropped Kirkland off?
J: I had to see a man about a tux.
V: Uh huh? Liar. You just got a new tux.
J: Youre going to find out soon enough where I went.
V: Soon enough isnt soon enough for me, as you well know.
J: Youre going to find out on the big day when you unwrap your wedding gift
from me.
V: Give me a hint.
J: Cant drink it.
V: Give me another.
J: Cant wear it.
V: Youre going to make me crazy with this.
J: I know. So, what do the rings look like?
V: Oh, I dont know. Theyre simple, traditional. Like us.
Vicky stops and she and Jake laugh.
J: That would be traditional like you and me.
V: When did we get like that?
J: I know that I got traditional when I decided that yours was the only hand that I
wanted to hold.
Vicky takes Jakes hand in her own and Jake kisses her hand.
V: Lets stay traditional forever.
J: No, lets just live forever. Just hang around until they kick us out.
V: Okay. Good.
J: Till death do us--
V: Shh. Till they stop writing love songs.
They kiss.
*****
J: (whispers) Till death do us part.
Paulina looks up from a customer and sees Jake standing in front of the door, tears in his
eyes, his body trembling. She rushes to the kitchen door.
P: Remy, honey, Im going out for awhile. Take care of things, okay?
Paulina walks quickly over to Jake, who still has a stunned, heartbroken look on his face
and ushers him out of the restaurant.
Warehouse
V: Help! Somebody help me! Oh my God! Help!
The door slides open and M #2 enters, gun in hand. He sees Vicky shaking on the floor.
V: Help me.
M #2: Whats the matter with you?
V: I think Im going into labor.
M #2: Youre joking, right?
V: Does it look like Im joking? Ow! Oh, here comes another contraction.
M #2 kneels beside Vicky to try and help her. Vicky punches M #2 in the face and kicks him
in the groin, causing him to fall on his back, sending the gun and door remote flying.
Vicky rushes over to pick up the remote and gun.
V: Dont mess with a girl who spent her whole childhood beating up a guy.
As M #2 is crumpled in pain on the ground, Vicky rushes to the door. Just as shes
about to get out, she comes face to face with M #1. Vicky points the gun at him.
V: Get in the room or youll be worse off than your friend in there.
M #1 reluctantly gets in the room and Vicky pushes a button on the remote and the door
slams shut.
V: Nobody keeps me away from my family. Here I come, guys.
Vicky rushes out of the warehouse.
