My Fantasy, Part 2

Scene opens with Jake and Vicky on the ground. Girls are still swinging, Steven and Kirkland are still playing football...

Jake is trying frantically to get Vicky to come to. He still can't believe that it is her.

JAKE: Oh god, honey, wake up....please wake up and show me the most beautiful baby blues in the world. How did this happen? Why now, after three YEARS??? (Starting to cry harder) Please, God, let her be okay...C'mon honey, wake up!!

(Vicky starts to stir. She opens her eyes and sees Jake sitting over her, rubbing the tears out of his eyes. It is in that moment that she remembers everything about their life together.)

VICKY:(Whispering) Jake?

JAKE:(head pops up) Oh honey, you're awake....Thank you God! Baby, I never thought I would hear your voice again; say my name again, please.

VICKY: Your name is Jake McKinnon, and I love you with every inch of my soul...Oh Jake, is this really happening? You don't know how many times I would dream about our life together, about Bay City, Lassiter...I didn't know what any of it meant, but I knew that it made me feel safe and loved....I knew that I had to find you again. I would have died trying.

JAKE: Vicky, I never gave up on you...I have been looking for you since your plane...since it happened. Everyone else told me to move on, get on with my life.(Touches her face) What they don't understand is....I have no life if you aren't here with me. My life begins and ends with you, it always has. When we thought you were gone, I no longer wanted to go on living. (Crying) I gave up on happy endings, Vic.

VICKY:(Crying as well) Oh Jake....you stil don't know what happened, do you? Well, the day Lucinda called and arranged for me to come to see you in Oakdale, The bodyguard you hired tried to kidnap me. I figured it out on the way to the airport, but I didn't say anything. When we got out of the car, I made a run for it....I reached the plane just as it was taking off, and got away. However, Whoever hired the bodyguard arranged for the plane to go down....Jake it was the scariest thing I had ever been through in my life! The only thing that I kept thinking was that I would never be able to hold you again, tell you I loved you. I would never get to see the boys, and I would never give birth to our twins....

JAKE: Vic, you don't have to do this now...

VICKY: No Jake, I need to. When I came to, I was in a hospital, and I had no idea who I was. All I knew was that I was pregnant, scared, and needed desperately to get to someone....you. Jake, I would dream about you all the time. So many wonderful memories, but all they did was confuse me more, and frustrate me to no end because I didn't know how to find you!

JAKE: God honey, what is it with us and amnesia?? This just proves how connected we are....When I had amnesia, all I could think about, dream about, was you. I couldn't even explain it....All I knew was that I loved you more than my own life, and I still do.

(Just as they are about to kiss, Steven and Kirkland come running up)

STEVEN: Jake, I thought you were coming to....*Mom?* Jake, is that....? But how??

JAKE: Yeah, little man, it's your Mom!!! I guess your prayers, and mine, were answered after all. I told you guys I had a funny feeling about today!

VICKY: Oh, Steven, Kirkland...look at how big you guys are!!! You're so grown up....God, I've missed you so much!!

(Steven runs into his Mom's arms, both of them crying. Kirkland hangs back for a second, looking confused)

JAKE: Hey buddy, what's wrong? Your mom came back to us, just like I knew she would!

KIRK: Yeah but....never mind:(

JAKE: No little man, what is it? You know you can tell me anything.

KIRK: It's just that....How do we know that she isn't gonna leave again? First she was gone for a long time the year we got married, then Daddy went away, and then Mommy went away again with the babies. We never even got to see them! I don't want her to go away again!!!

VICKY: Kirkland, honey....I never, EVER wanted
to go away, you have to believe me. I love you, Jake, and your brother more than my own life. I would never leave you on purpose, and I am going to try my hardest to never leave again. Deal??

KIRK: DEAL!!(Runs into is Mom's arms, crying....Jake stands and watches the reunion for awhile, then realizes something....)

JAKE: Vic, it's been three years....The babies....

VICKY:(Smiling) Well Daddy, they aren't quite newborns but they are still young enough to wrap you around their little fingers....Oh Jake, they looks so much like you....(Calling to the girls) Mary, Elizabeth, come over here!!

(Mary and Elizabeth walk over to the group. They are laughing and holding hands...They stop in front of their Mom.)

VICKY: Mary, Elizabeth....remember when I told you the Rags and Alice Blue story? And do you remember how Mommy would talk about her dreams of a man and two little boys? Well, I would like you to meet them... Jake, Steven, and Kirkland, this is Mary Bridget and Elizabeth Michaela McKinnon.

JAKE: Oh My God Vicky, they're perfect....(kneels down in front of the girls) Hello Mary and Elizabeth....you have no idea how happy I am to meet you!! I knew you when you were still in your Moomy's belly! I am the guys who used to sing to you at night, and feed your Mommy all of the yucky...interesting things she wanted when you guys were hungry... I wish I could've been there for your first...well, everything!

MARY: Are you my daddy? You look like Elizabeth, you have the same color hair...

JAKE: (Tears welling in his eyes) Yes honey, I am your daddy....(To himself) I'm a daddy!...Finally, I have everything I ever wanted....

(Mary takes a tentative step towards Jake, then hugs him....Jake looks a little surprised at her immediate acceptance of him, but it doesn't last long as he relishes the feel of his first child in his arms...Elizabeth is encouraged by seeing her sister hugging Jake, so she goes flying into his arms too. Jake is crying, looking at Vicky.)

JAKE: (Silently mouthing) Thank you honey....I love you.

After a while , Jake stands up, a girl in each arm. He looks around at his family, grins his Jake grin, and says,

JAKE: Let's go home!
