Scene 8
Setting: Hall and Study of the Cory mansion
Characters: Everyone except Jasmine, Charlie, Cory, Elizabeth, Steven and
Kirkland, (including a locksmith,
and paramedics)
Everyone is frantic. Vicky is screaming. Jake is trying to comfort her. Lila is
holding on to Cass. Nick is kneeling down next to Anne, they are both by the
door. Joe is on his cell phone while Rachel is holding Paulina's hand. Marley is
talking to Donna while Tyrone rubs her back. Matt comes running in with a crow
bar.
Joe: (putting his hand over the mouthpiece of his phone) Matt, what are
you doing?
Matt: I'm gonna get her out of there before that baby comes.
(Remy comes running down.)
Remy: Wait, I know what's wrong with the door, Dante put the wheels from
his toy car in there, that's why the lock is jammed. If we get them out, we get
Vicky and Jake out. Here I stopped and got pliers to get the wheels out.
Vicky: (with one hand pressed against the wall and the other clenched in
a fist around Jake's hand) Hurry, this baby isn't gonna wait much longer, she's
almost here.
(Remy hands the pliers to Nick and he gets to work, furiously jabbing them in
the key hole trying to get the
wheels out. Lila and Cass walk away up to the nursery to check on Jasmine and
Charlie. Jake kisses Vicky and
she scrunches her face in pain.)
Nick: (as a tiny wheel pops out and hits the wall next to Anne's face)
Got it, one down one to go!
Vicky: (screaming) It's too late, Bridget's coming, I have to push, AHHH!!!
OH God, Jake!
(Vicky screams and pushes, Jake kneels in front of her, with a look of terror on
his face. Donna hugs Marley in desperation. Paulina squeezes Rachel's
hand, Rachel reassuringly strokes her hair. Marley looks at Tyrone
helplessly. Anne stands and hugs Matt, partly in fear. Joe quickly hangs up and
dials 911 again. He explains the situation to the operator and begins relaying
the messages to Jake through the door as Nick frantically tries to get the other
wheel out.)
Joe: OK, Jake, what do you see?
Jake: I see the head! She's blonde just like her mom!
Joe: Alright, just let the head come, don't do anything, let Vicky do all
the work.
Vicky: (groaning) Huh, easy for you to saAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYY!
(As Vicky pushes Nick pops the second wheel out.)
Nick: Hold on, Vicky, here we come!
(Joe opens the door and runs in, Jake takes the phone as Joe takes over
delivering the baby. Paulina sighs in relief and hugs Rachel. Anne kisses Matt.
Remy hugs Nick and he kisses her. Donna is crying and hugs Marley who's
crying as well. Nick goes and hugs Donna as Tyrone kisses Marley. All of a
sudden they hear Vicky scream and a baby cry. Every one starts laughing and
crying and yelling in
joy.)
Joe: (holding Bridget wriggling in Jake's jacket as she cries out you can
see her blonde hair over the edge of
the jacket) Congratulations! Bridget, right?
(Both Jake and Vicky are crying as Joe hands Vicky their new born daughter.
We see the shadow of the first
Bridget in the background for a split second then it's gone. Jake kisses Vicky
and then gently kisses Bridget on
the forehead. Everyone in the living room comes running in wondering what all
the commotion is about.)
Sean and Ali: (in unison) What's going on?
Marley: Well, Sean, you've got a new cousin!
Etta Mae: What? Vicky had the baby? Here, now ? What? why
aren't they at the hospital?
Rachel: Everyone, calm down. Jake and Vicky got locked in the study,
Vicky went into labor, Nick fixed the lock and Joe delivered the baby.
(Ali hugs Sean, Carl passes them and hugs Rachel. Amanda and Cameron hug and
kiss. Josie, Gary, Toni, and Chris are talking excitedly with Etta Mae and K.C.)
Vicky: (tears streaming down her face as she talks to her new daughter)
Hey sweetie, welcome to the world. (looking over at Jake as Joe leaves them
alone) Jake, you know what?
Jake: (wiping away his own tears he then sits down and puts his arms
around his wife and baby) What?
Vicky: Bridget's our own little Christmas miracle!
(Bridget's bell rings in the background, Jake and Vicky hear it and kiss.
Everyone filters out to the living room.
The locksmith arrives right behind the paramedics. Carl sends the locksmith away
while Rachel shows the
medics to the study.)
Paramedic: Well, it looks like somebody was a little impatient!
(Vicky smiles. Another paramedic brings in a stretcher and Jake helps him get
Vicky on the stretcher, still holding Bridget in Jake's jacket.)
Vicky: Wait, where are the boys?
Jake: Don't worry I'll find 'em.
(Nick and Remy walk by, Jake calls them over)
Vicky: Do you guys know where the boys are?
Remy: I took them upstairs a while ago, they're playing Go-Fish with
Charlie.
Jake: Could you guys get them and follow us to the hospital?
Nick: (crosses and looks at Bridget then up at Vicky) So how are you and
my new niece? Hi Bridget, I'm your uncle Nick.
Vicky: We're fine! So, will you guys take the boys for us?
Remy: Sure, I'll go get them now, Um, what should I tell them?
Vicky: Tell them that Bridget and I are doing just fine and that she
can't wait to meet her big brothers.
Nick: OK, I hope you're up for some visitors later, because everyone here
is going to the hospital, too.
Jake: See, she's not even five minutes old and she's already the most
popular girl in town! I think I'd better invest in some baseball bats, because
she's not dating until Vicky can cook a decent meal!

Scene 9
Setting: BCUH (An hour later)
Characters: Everyone + Bridget Michaela McKinnon
The entire gang has gathered at the hospital to welcome Bridget Michaela
McKinnon, Bay City's own little Christmas Miracle into the world. Paulina is
sitting in a chair with Dante on her lap and Joe next to her. Remy and Nick are
sitting across from them. You can see an engagement ring on Remy's hand.
Felicia and Sergei come around the corner, they sit next to Rachel and Carl, who
have Cory and Elizabeth with them. Amanda whispers something in Cameron's ear.
He hugs her looking a bit stunned, her face lights up in a smile. As she puts
her hands around his face and kisses him. Ali and Sean cross in front of them
and sit down, Sean kisses Ali on the cheek and she smiles serenely. Marley and
Tyrone cross towards the corner, Tyrone hugs Marley and rocks back and forth.
Cass and Lila sit down, Lila holding Jasmine. Charlie walks towards Steven, the
two start talking. Kirkland grabs Steven's arm and they both run in to a room.
Josie and Gary sit down, Toni and Chris are standing behind them, Chris reaches
up and strokes Toni's face and you can see a wedding ring. K.C. and Etta Mae are
talking when Donna comes in. Etta Mae points her to Vicky's room, the same door
Steven and Kirkland just went in. She walks in and sees Steven and Kirkland
kneeling on chairs, gazing at Bridget, in Vicky's arms. Jake is standing over
them all.
Kirkland: She's so small!
Steven: But she's so pretty! Hi, I'm your big brother Steven, and this is
Kirk.
Vicky: She has a name. . . Bridget. Remember, you thought of it!
Donna: (walking towards the bed) May I hold my granddaughter?
Vicky: Sure, here you go mom.
(Vicky hands Bridget to Donna. Marley ducks her head in the room.)
Marley: Hey, can we come in?
Jake: Sure, the more the merrier! In fact hold on I'll be right back!
(Marley and Tyrone enter as Jake walks out. Nick and Remy enter as well.)
Remy: Oh, she's beautiful.
Marley: (crossing to Vicky's bed) Oh, Vicky, she looks just like you!
(peeking at Bridget in Donna's arms.)
(Donna places Bridget in Marley's arms as Jake walks in behind Sean.)
Jake: (patting Sean on the back) Good! the whole family's here.
Vicky: Marley, Tyrone, Jake and I would like you two to be Bridget's
Godparents.
Marley: (handing Bridget to Jake as Tyrone comes over and puts his arms
around her waist from behind) Oh, well, I don't know what to say!
Tyrone: I do, sure, we'd be honored!

Scene 10
Setting: BCUH (in front of the nursery window, 20 minutes later)
Characters: Everyone except Vicky
Everyone has gathered in front of the nursery window to catch a glimpse of
Bridget, before visiting hours are over. Paulina holds Dante up and points to a
small bassinet.
It has a small, pink card at the end that reads: Baby Girl McKinnon
122599615F-M876. Above it in small script is a scrap of paper reading:
Bridget Michaela McKinnon,
our own little x-mas Miracle ! A nurse walks over and places Bridget in
her bassinet. Dante says something inaudible. Remy is standing next to Paulina
and turns to Nick and places her head on his shoulder as she gazes at Bridget.
Joe is on the other side of Paulina patting Jake on the back as Jake boosts
Kirkland up. Steven is next to him talking to Charlie. He points to
Bridget and then says something else to Charlie. Cass is behind Charlie. He has
his arms around Lila who's holding Jasmine. Matt is standing next to them
holding Jasmine's hand talking to her. Anne is holding on to Matt's arm as she
looks in on Bridget. Rachel is behind Remy holding Cory, who's asleep on her
shoulder. Carl has Elizabeth on his shoulders so she can take a better look.
Felicia is next to Rachel, with her arms around Sergei. Toni, Chris, Josie, and
Gary have left after says their congratulations to Jake and Vicky.
Etta Mae is behind Jake with K.C. whispering something in her ear. K.C. nods and
leaves. Ali and Sean are next to Charlie and the boys. Ali puts her head on his
shoulder starring at Sean, who smiles at her then looks in awe at Bridget. Donna
walks up behind them and places her hand on Steven's shoulder. He looks up at
her and then back at Bridget. Amanda and Cameron are off to the side, a few feet
away from Rachel and Carl. Cameron is behind Amanda holding her around her
middle, rocking back and forth. Her kisses her neck as she smiles serenely.
Amanda looks up at Cameron, his eyes light up and he smiles. The
two look dreamily towards the nursery.
Cameron: You sure?
Amanda: Uh huh. Positive.
Cameron kisses her again, on the cheek. Kirkland looks up at Jake and tugs on
his sleeve.
Kirkland: Where's mom?
Jake: She's in her room, sweetie, she's pretty tired. You guys can come
back and see her tomorrow.

Scene 11
Setting: BCUH (in the nursery and Vicky's room , 30 minutes later)
Characters: Jake, Vicky, Bridget and a nurse
Jake and Vicky are in the nursery. Vicky is in her hospital gown in a
wheelchair, Jake is behind her, one hand on her shoulder the other one the
handle of the chair. They are both gazing at Bridget, sleeping in her bassinet.
Vicky reaches in and strokes her wisps of blonde hair.
Vicky: Sleep, sweetie, sleep. You've had a rough day.
Jake: (rubbing her shoulder) So have you, Vic. You should go back to bed.
Vicky: I don't want to leave her here. I'm almost sure if I blink she'll
be gone. It's just too good to be true.
(A nurse walks past, Jake stops her and asks her something, neither you nor
Vicky can hear. The nurse is
hesitant, but Jake says something, motioning to Vicky and then Bridget. He claps
his hands together and looks
pleadingly into her eyes. The nurse nods and Jake smiles, obviously pleased with
himself. He returns to Vicky and starts to wheel Bridget out of the nursery.)
Jake: Well you don't have to, we're taking her back to your room.
Vicky: (grabbing the other end of the bassinet, stopping him) Um, Jake,
honey, are you allowed to do that?
Jake: I explained it to the nurse, and now Bridget gets to stay with you
and me.
Vicky: You and me?
Jake: (pushing Vicky as the nurse wheels Bridget to Vicky's room) Well
I'm not leaving you two on Christmas. I
have a cot all set up. I'm just too jealous to leave my girls to the nurses all
night long.
Vicky: (smiling, placing her hands on his right hand then her head) But
who's going to stay with the boys?
Jake: I told them and they are fine with it. Marley and Tyrone are gonna
stay with them at the cottage.
Vicky: I love you, McKinnon, I really love you!
(The nurse reaches Vicky's room and places Bridget a few feet from Vicky's bed.
Jake pushes Vicky in right behind her. The nurse leaves. Jake picks Vicky up and
lays her down in bed. He kisses her forehead and pulls the covers up. Before he
can say "Goodnight" she is asleep. Bridget begins to cry. Jake walks
to the bassinet and picks her up, as her little bootie falls off her left foot.)
Jake: (cradling Bridget up on his shoulder then brings her down to look
at her) Hey sweetheart, why don't we
give mommy a break. Oh, Oh I know. (he strokes the side of her face then traces
it down to her arm and out to her small fingers, her tiny hand clasps around his
index finger. Jake stares at it almost in tears and kisses her hand) I think we
need to talk. Do you remember the last time we talked? It was a couple of months
ago, you were still inside your mommy. It told you how we all love you so much,
but I forgot something then. I knew that you were going to be the most beautiful
girl in the world, I mean just look at your mommy, (turns and gazing lovingly at
Vicky, sleeping in her bed with a beautiful smile on her face) But boy I
had no idea. Beautiful isn't even the word. So there is something I have to warn
you about. BOYS! (Jake gets a look on his face, part anger, part terror) all
right, lets lay a few ground rules. Rule one. Curfew is eight thirty regardless
of the situation, well, I suppose ten on your prom night, but only with a
chaperone, make it two chaperones, two very strict chaperones! Rule two that
shouldn't even matter because your not allowed to date until your forty or I'm
dead which ever comes first. (Bridget starts to whimper softly and fuss) Alright,
I suppose they are a bit harsh. I just want to protect you from all the jerks
out there. You know guys like, well, like I was when I was younger. I know what
they try to do and don't do. I just don't want my precious little girl to get
hurt. You know what they say about Daddies and their little girls, they'd do
anything under the sun to protect their little girls and keep them safe. Plus,
you've got two great big brothers that are looking out for you already. You're
going to have your own little secret service minus those dumb earpieces, but
we'll keep the shades. The shades are cool, mom would like the shades!
Because like I said we all love so much. (Jake looks down and sees Bridget is
asleep) Wow, I guess I'm pretty good at that boring lecture stuff, but (looking
down at Bridget again) I meant every word, well almost every one. I suppose I
could rethink the curfew and dating, Ok, curfew's nine and you can date when
your thirty-five. Deal? (kisses Bridget's forehead and whispers "Deal"
then crosses over and places her in the bassinet) Goodnight, girls.
(Jake moves Bridget next to Vicky's bed and pulls the cot in between them. He
lays down and closes his eyes.)
Jake: (contd) Merry Christmas.

Scene 12
Setting: Jake and Vicky's cottage (two days later, December 27, 1999 )
Characters: Jake, Vicky, Donna, Steven, Kirkland, and Bridget
Donna has taken over for Marley and Tyrone. She is in the kitchen making tea
while the boys are eating breakfast at the table. Kirkland is plating with his
cereal while Steven
reads the back of the box. Jake opens the door and Vicky walks in carrying
Bridget in the quilt Marley made. Jake
follows her carrying Vicky's suitcase and a pink baby bag. He sets them down by
the door and holds Bridget as Vicky
puts her coat in the closet. She takes the baby back as Jake takes his coat off
as well. Steven and Kirkland run to Vicky who's sitting on couch. Jake walks in
and sits down. Donna walks in from the kitchen and sets her tea
down. The boys peer in the quilt at Bridget.
Kirkland: Hey, she actually looks cute, she's not so wrinkly anymore!
Steven: Kirk, she's our little sister, of course she's cute!
Donna: You're right Steven, she got a pretty cute mom, her dad though
......
Jake: (smirking) Oh, I love you, too, Donna.
(The boys are shoving each other fighting over who gets to hold Bridget first.)
Vicky: Boys, boys! You'll have plenty of chances to hold her over
Christmas break. In fact, Jake and I might just put you guys to work changing
diapers! You know newborns go through oh, about 15 diapers a day, you two will
have her so much you'll be sick of her and be begging to go back to school.
Jake: (smiling) Now there's an idea, you're a genius, Vic! No more diaper
duty for the adults!
Vicky: (looking at him like only she can) What's the matter tough guy?
Suddenly afraid of a little poop? (smiling)
Huh? Some father you're gonna be, won't even change his own daughter's diaper.
(Bridget starts to fuss and Vicky puts her up to her shoulder to cradle. Jake
has his head down)
Jake: Um ......
Vicky: The right answer's not on your shoes McKinnon, (lifts Bridget a
little higher and sniffs, her nose wrinkles at the stench of a dirty diaper)
Ahem, duty calls, Daddy.
(Jake shuffles across and takes Bridget towards the stairs)
Jake: (whispering to Bridget) Mommy can be a little bossy sometimes,
don't worry you'll get used to it.
Vicky: Hey, I heard that. Don't go filling Bridget's little head full of
lies.
Jake: (mimics Vicky silently then whispers under his breath) Told you,
get ready Bridget you're in for a long hall. (louder so he can be heard by
all) But we love her anyway, don't we? (Bridget coos and Jake smiles, pleased)

Scene 13
Setting: Jake and Vicky's room (later that night)
Characters: Jake and Vicky
Vicky is changing into PJ's when Jake enters.
Vicky: (turns and hugs Jake) Yippee!
Jake: What? Am I missing something here?
Vicky: Major, right in front of your face, too. I've had three children,
my third two days ago, and my pajama's already fit again! Aren't you proud of
me?
Jake: Proud as punch. Oh, by the way, I'm sorry about that whole diaper
thing earlier.
Vicky: (kissing Jake's neck) I know how you could make up for it.
Jake: (smiles as his eyes roll back in his head) Anything.
Vicky: (with a smile and crafty look) Anything? OK, big shot, you can
change all of Bridget's diapers for the next.....
Jake: (interrupting) Hey!
Vicky: (giving him a stern look) Year.
Jake: That was a total ambush, you totally mislead me.
Vicky: (the smile and look returning) Whoa, it's not my fault you had
your mind in the gutter, you know what they say, all's fair in love and diapers,
buddy!
Jake: See, I was right you are bossy.
(Vicky throws him that look, He grabs her and lays a whopper of a kiss on her.)
Jake: (contd) But it happens to be a very sexy trait!
Vicky: (pushing him away) Hands off, this is a restricted area pal. You
know the drill, six weeks.
Jake: (pretending to throw a temper tantrum stomps his feet and waves his
hands in the air) But I want it now! I can't wait six weeks, you really
turn me on. Come on, can't we bend the rules? You were always pretty good at
bending and finding loop holes. Aren't there loops holes concerning deprived
husbands and extremely sexy wives such as yourself?
Vicky: (frowning) Sorry, we have to wait, there is no way around it. But
I'm sure you'll keep busy.
Jake: Yeah, how?
Vicky: (as Bridget starts to cry from her nursery) OH, there seems to be
that small matter of a year's worth of diapers.
Jake rolls his eyes and stalks out. Vicky smiles and follows him.

Scene 14
Setting: Jake and Vicky's room/ Heaven (an hour or so later)
Characters: Jake, Vicky, baby Bridget, Bridget, Ryan, and Michael
Jake and Vicky have settled their argument and gone to bed. Vicky is having a
dream, Jake, the same one as well. Vicky appears in heaven holding baby Bridget.
Jake walks in, dazed behind her. He places his hand on her shoulder and looks
around. Jake is wearing a white t-shirt with white pants and shoes. Vicky is in
a long flowing white, summer dress and sandals. Baby Bridget is in a white dress
with a lacy white bonnet.
Jake: Hey sweetie, what's going on? Where are we?
Vicky turns full circle gazing all around. She pushes Bridget up on her shoulder
and turns again to face Jake, smiling.
Vicky: I think, (looks up and back at Jake) I think we're in heaven!?!?
Jake: (steps back and rubs his chest) Are we dead or something? I don't
feel dead, at least I don't think I feel dead. Do you feel dead?
Michael steps out from behind a pillar wearing a shiny white suit. Vicky sees
him and rushes towards him.
Vicky: Daddy! Oh, Daddy I miss you so much!
Vicky embraces Michael. He steps back and gazes at his daughter and
granddaughter.
Michael: Oh, I missed you too, baby. Hey, look what you did!
Vicky: This is Bridget Michaela McKinnon, my little girl, (Jake walks up
behind her and grabs around her waist Vicky smiles) our little girl!
Michael: Hello, Jake, good to see you've been taking care of my little
girl.
Jake: It's been my pleasure, I wouldn't trade it for anything in the
world, I'll always take care of Vicky and the kids, they're my whole world.
Michael: Good. Um, I think there are some other friends that would like
to say Hello.
Ryan wearing a suit similar to Michael's walks out from behind the same pillar
holding Bridget's hand. Bridget is wearing a long draping white dress with a
gauzy wrap.
Ryan: Hey you, how are you doing?
Vicky is taken aback to see her dearly departed loved ones.
Vicky: Fine, Fine. How are the two of you?
Bridget: Oh, Victoria,we're fine, I see you made good use of your new
lease on life. I knew you wouldn't give up in that basement. Your a fighter, I
hope you instill that in your baby girl as well. Now let me see that baby, want
to make sure she's in as good a shape as when we sent her to you.
Vicky smiles and hands baby Bridget to the angel Bridget. Ryan peeks at the baby
and begins playing with her. Jake turns towards them as Michael leads Vicky to a
bench in the corner. He strokes her hair as they sit down.
Michael: Oh, baby, I'm so proud of you.
Vicky: Dad. (Vicky tilts her head and smiles)
Michael: Sweetie, let me finish. You've just been remarkable. You took
care,of Marley when she need
someone and when she was sick, and Donna, I can't thank you enough for taking
care of her, but now it's time for someone to take care of you. Treasure that
little girl like I treasure my little girls.
Vicky: You know I do, daddy, Jake does too.
Michael: Well, we've been watching out for you, sorry you had to wait so
long for her, but we had to be sure you could take care of her.
Vicky: I know, we can love her even more now that Marley and Mom are
better.
Bridget, Ryan, and walk over behind Jake who's now holding baby Bridget.
Ryan: Hey Vicky, It's good to see you've been holding up. I'm so glad you
and Jake are happy.
Vicky: Thanks Ryan, I'm happy too.
Jake: We're all happy.
Bridget: Well that's good, we'll try to keep it that way. Just one big
family: you, Victoria, Steven, Kirkland,
Bridget, and Sean. Just take care of them you hear me Jake, or else you'll be in
big trouble.
Jake: Of course, I'll take care of them, I can't imagine not, I'd die
first.
Ryan: No, You just stay down there with Vicky and the kids, they need you
more.
Michael: Yes, we don't want to see you guys up here for a very very long
time. So stay out of trouble, Jake.
Jake: (smiling) I'll do my best.
Bridget: You'll do it!
Vicky: (as Jake hands baby Bridget to her) Don't worry, he'll do it, if
he knows what's good for him.
Michael: All right time to go home. Oh, tell Marley and Donna I love them
and miss them.
Vicky: They know, dad, they know. I love you all, I'll miss
you, I hope I see you again someday.
Jake wakes up and gazes at Vicky remembering his dream. Vicky smiles and opens
her eyes.
Jake: Hello gorgeous, having a good dream?
Vicky: It was wonderful, you were there and .....
Jake: Of course, it was wonderful if I was there.
Vicky: Dad was there
Jake: (realizing they had the same dream) And Bridget and Ryan and the
baby.
Vicky: How did you ... (has the same realization and kisses Jake) So do
you think it was ....
Jake: Real? I don't know.
Jake gathers Vicky and holds her tight. They lie down in each others arms.
Bridget's bell rings as they drift off
to sleep.
